Strategic Alliances
The KonaWare and Navis alliance
amplifies visibility across the supply chain.
Navis,
provider of mission-critical supply chain execution
software, since 1988 has helped companies like Wal-mart,
Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson improve their supply
chain
operations. The contribution of the KonaWare
Mobility Platform allows guaranteed wireless data
transactions to occur outside the four walls of the
Distribution Center. This will further expand the
umbrella of visibility customers will realize into and
across their supply chains. Click

Newsletter, Feb06.)
Mobile Technology improves efficiency across the supply
chain and minimizes total cost of ownership.
A "perfect storm" of sorts now exists to develop driver
communications and wireless automation with readily
available technologies that can dramatically improve
supply chain efficiency while minimizing total cost of
ownership. The influence of the mass-market production
of Pocket PC and J2ME devices, consumer-driven GPRS and
CDMA/1X wireless networks, and flexible, modular
application software have driven down overall solution
costs. Click

Industry Insights
Gartner reports on rising
freight costs which increase the need for
transportation
management solutions; including Hours-of-Service
solutions.
Rising transportation
costs could cause transportation budgets worldwide
to increase by as much as 25 percent during the next few
years, unless companies find ways to minimize the
impact. According to this report, Hour-of-service rule
changes demand more emphasis on efficiency and
consistent performance. No longer is it acceptable for a
carrier to wait hours to unload because downtime counts
toward the driver's total Hours-of-service. Performance
objectives are critical, and this demands better
transportation execution systems.
