KonaWare Transport reduces costs at Dohrn Transfer's P & D operations. Dohrn Transfer, headquartered in Rock Island, Illinois, provides LTL service throughout the Midwest. After completing a pilot program with KonaWare, a full production project to automate Dohrn's pickup and delivery operations has begun. By equipping Dohrn drivers with KonaWare Transport running on mobile phones, pickup and delivery information will be collected by drivers in route, then transmitted over standard cellular networks to the company's back office systems. With this replacement to Dohrn's paper-based and voice communication driven system, Dohrn will experience both substantial reduction of administration and dispatcher overhead and an increase in revenue by adding more pickup and deliveries per vehicle per day. Prolificx + KonaWare = the benefits of both a fixed mounted and handheld solution for HOS Driver Log and Vehicle Inspection reporting. The Prolificx Vector 300FM combined with KonaWare Transport E-Log provides a complete Hours of Service Electronic Driver Log and Vehicle Inspection solution that tracks a vehicle’s odometer reading, road speed, power takeoff status, total vehicle distance, and GPS coordinates, as well as hours of driver duty. The Vector 300FM communicates via bluetooth to a wireless computer running KonaWare Transport E-Log. This allows automatic driver log entry of the operator’s present location, date, time, vehicle odometer reading and driver status such as “On/Off-Duty” or “Driving”. By capturing this important vehicle data, this solution provides the benefits of an in-cab, fixed mounted driver log solution while giving the operator the mobility of a handheld computer. This is needed for the included Vehicle Inspection Reporting application, another FMCSA requirement. The driver has the freedom to document his pre/post trip inspection outside of the vehicle and record any needed repairs. For more information about Prolificx visit the company website.
