How Fortune 500 shippers overcome their supply chain challenges. Global supply chains are stretching almost to breaking point. Outsourced manufacturing often requires components to be shipped from a supplier in one country to a manufacturer in another, the semi-finished parts sent to yet another country for finishing, and the finished product shipped to warehouses and retailers all over the world. Warehouse stock doesn’t generate revenues; it incurs costs, which has led to the increasingly common practice of just-in-time deliveries. This is all very well, as long as the supply chain remains intact and deliveries on time. A recent eyefortransport survey of supply chain executives reveals that the biggest issues in the supply chain are: Increasing carrier prices, tighter carrier capacity, inventory management, and supply chain visibility.
