ORTEC
evaluates KonaWare technology for advanced planning and
optimization within the supply chain.
ORTEC is one of the largest providers of advanced planning and
optimization solutions, with more than 800 customers including
leading enterprises in manufacturing, transportation, industry and
banking. Recently, ORTEC and KonaWare began an evaluation and
development agreement to combine the
KonaWare Mobility Platform with ORTEC's software solutions. With a
future co-solution in place, it will be possible to transmit data
associated with driver activity like
pick ups, deliveries, driver logs, and driver location in real-time
over standard cellular networks. This data
can then be integrated with ORTEC's route optimization, workforce
scheduling, vehicle routing, and load building systems. This
enhancement to the ORTEC planning and optimization solution can result
in improving inventory management and supply chain visibility; in
turn providing significant cost savings to the customer.

How Fortune
500 shippers overcome their supply chain challenges.
Global supply chains are stretching almost to
breaking point. Outsourced manufacturing often requires components
to be shipped from a supplier in one country to a manufacturer in
another, the semi-finished parts sent to yet another country for
finishing, and the finished product shipped to warehouses and
retailers all over the world. Warehouse stock doesn’t generate
revenues; it incurs costs, which has led to the increasingly common
practice of just-in-time deliveries. This is all very well, as long
as the supply chain remains intact and deliveries on time. A recent eyefortransport survey of supply chain
executives reveals that the biggest issues in the supply chain are:
Increasing carrier prices, tighter carrier capacity, inventory
management, and supply chain visibility. |
